
An overview of the summer 2023 Mapping Justice Project Showcase with the Center for Environment & Society and trubel&co. Meet the high school students using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to explore environmental and climate issues in their community. Students for this program were selected from the five county service regions of FGCU (Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee). Eight weeks of online work culminated in this project showcase on August 4, 2023 at FGCU’s main campus.

Mapping Justice: Designing Geospatial Tools for Social Change is a recorded Florida Climate Week panel where students and alumni share how they use GIS and data visualization to advance climate resiliency and social justice through community-driven projects.

This session featured Nick Okafor, design researcher and founder of trubel&co, who shared insights on how data and technology can be used to advance social and environmental impact.
